and still NO progress! This boy is his father's child...he is in NO hurry to get anywhere and must be a little on the shy side. That's ok, I want him to have Jesse's temperament. In fact I have prayed specifically for that. He's so level headed and easy going and is the walking definition of patience. Jes say he hopes he'll have my strong will. We will soon see I guess!
Today I shopped all day just to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather. I walked and walked and walked. It wasn't comfortable by any means but I had to get out. I get so bored at home...can't stand it!

I've been trying to occupy my time (read:thoughts) with non-baby things the past few days and I came across this Ethan Allen style quiz somewhere and took it 5 times. Yes, 5 times! It gave me some different choices each time so I kept taking it to see what design style I really was. It's fun and takes all of 30 seconds. Just go to the site and click on the pictures that you are instantly most drawn to. Then tell me what you got.
2 out of 5 times it said my style was Loft
The verdict is in—your style is Loft. Loft is energetic. Fashion-driven. Practical. Materials borrowed from industry, architecture, and nature. Clean shapes. Punches of color. Spontaneous and fresh. Kids and pets? Bring them on.
and 2 out of 5 times it said my style was Villa
The verdict is in—your style is Villa. Villa is romance reinvented. A high-end “decorator” look. Refined without fuss. Serene yet strong. Pedigreed while also modern. Inspired by French and Scandinavian design. A mingling of carved woods. handcrafted artisanship, and the dressmaker detail.
I looked through the designs under both styles and loved a lot of the rooms, but I definitely lean more towards Loft.

Nursery Revealed
My favorite room in the house is now Jonah's nursery. It's calm and peaceful and soothing and just...ahhhh :)
A cozy place to rest his head and the softest rug ever!

He's already got friends here waiting for him

A cozy place to clean his bum

A cozy place for us all to rock, cuddle, feed, read and dream

Still need to add a few more books. The train and Ferris wheel are 32 years old and purchased by my dad, for me, not knowing if I would be a he or a she and they still play sweet music. I'm so glad they kept these. They mean so much and are just perfect for J's room.

Cozy frog robe

This boy has some CLOTHES and what's in here is just the little stuff that he'll wear in the very beginning! I hope he gets to wear it all at least once because he definitely has some precious things.

A cozy place for even Piper and Dixie to rest their sweet heads. And it's made out of the softest minky!

I hope you enjoyed the tour! We still have some art to hang, a couple of frames to put up and a mobile (maybe) to put on the crib. We just need baby Jonah to get here to make this space complete.

Make your own Girl Scout Cookies
I know it's probably just the pregnant in me but I think I came across a little piece of heaven today.
how to make your own Girl Scout cookies!! Here.
My favorite cookies were always Samoas (although I think their name changed?) and Tagalongs. I noticed there are also recipes for Thin Mints and Do-si-does. I wish I had the energy to make one of these....*sigh*
For now I think I'll peruse the site a little more. She's got some great recipes on there. What's for dinner? I know I'm not cooking, I'm over it this week.

10 on Tuesday
Since yesterday was my birthday I thought I'd reminisce about 10 birthdays that, off the top of my head, stand out to this day.
10 Memorable Birthdays
1. 3rd - I received a record player. From 3 years old on, I told everyone I wanted to be an actress and a singer. I loved music, dancing, making up routines and entertaining people. I still dream of the actress part.
2. 4th - I received a yellow "big kid" BMX bike. What can I say? I was tall and my Dad had lots of confidence in my balancing abilities. Training wheels? Pshaw! Never! Remind me to show you the wicked scar on my right knee.
3. 8th - It was all about a skating rink party. I was quite the skater. Forward, backwards, cross turns, spins, oh yeah....
4. 9th - My aunt bought me an awesome Pink boom box and I got tapes by Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. I wanted to be everything Debbie Gibson.
5. 13th - slumber party. We watched Pretty Woman and I got Vanilla Ice's new tape. I can still recite every word to Ice Ice Baby.
6. 14th - First pair of Cole Haans. I'm sure my parents soon regretted giving in to my expensive taste. I think I got Liz Claiborne perfume that year too. You know the stinky one in the red triangle bottle? Yea... This may have also been the year that I started requesting pumpkin pie in lieu of Birthday cake.
7. 16th - got a car..."Black Beauty" Also got in loads of trouble (and fun) because of said car.
8. 21st - I went skydiving and went on my first trip to Las Vegas with my cousin and best friend.
9. 21st- 25th All great b-days with great friends in Austin and San Marcos. Those are the only details I remember.
10. 32nd- 24 hours in pajamas = Happy Birthday to me! I had the laziest day in I don't remember when. I laid on the couch all day with the pups, listened to the rain, felt my baby move around in my belly and day-dreamed about what life would soon be like.

Flashback Friday
A year ago the post traumatic stress of it all, along with all the emotional scars were starting to really come to light and I was finally beginning (at least sort of) to deal with everything. It was perfect timing too, feeling bombarded by Pinktober, which itself was almost too much to handle some days. I was so sick and tired of seeing a sea of cutesy pink in every retail store I went into, when all I wanted was for my hair to grow back and for the scars not to hurt so bad.
This year I'm happy that much of the emotional pain is gone, my hair has made a comeback (don't EVEN get me started on my pitiful little lashes though...ugh) and pink paraphernalia doesn't make me want to totally vomit anymore. I still worry about a recurrence every day and keep praying that just one single day will pass without me being so aware of it all.
My point is that I never imagined 1 year could make such a difference. Never in a million years would I expect to be counting down the days til the birth of my baby boy. I'm so thankful to be here. My life may not be exactly the way I planned it, but it's pretty stinkin' perfect.

You're not too young
Another reminder of young women who fought like hell. Many have made it through and sadly, others did not. The second survivor is my beautiful friend Sarah who I met through this journey. There are many others on here I've come to "know" through our online support group over at Young Survival Coalition.
If you make it to the end you'll see faces of some of the courageous women who's lives ended too soon. Never stop praying for a cure!

Testing
I just removed the privacy status from the blog. After a year and a change in URL I think I've shaken the unknown/anonymous readers off. We'll see if it stays this way or goes. Blogger saves my list of approved readers so if I go back to private you'll still have access.
I planned to start a blog for baby J. Maybe private? Maybe not? I have lots of ideas but just can't commit to anything. I've even been considering having it hosted and moving to wordpress. Decisions Decisions
